Update 11-19-13

Hi everyone! It's been a while I know and I am aware that my domain is no longer registered. There was an issue with the host service and needless to say it is no longer mine, however I will look for alternatives to keep it going possibly with a different extension. As I am sure you are wondering, what has the RepRap kid been up to lately, well for starters school has been a big setback for me lately due to college planning and I also recently got a job which is also now taking from my printing time, but my dad and I are still at it! We are now working on getting duel extrusion on our Ultimakers. We have completed several upgrades to the extruder and have also tried cloud printing! Cloud printing is where we can remotely log into the printer using the internet upload a file and print! We have been using a Raspberry Pi with Octoprint loaded on it, it has worked great and actually helps us to get even better print quality because there is not delay in sending the code to the printer! Overall it has been a good few months for us and we look forward to another few! Oh and for those of you that are worried about the whereabouts of the massive Ultimaker, yeah that's disassembled in our lab, it is far to large to keep set up all the time but if needed we could have it set up in a matter of an hour or so! Oh and the worlds 3rd homemade 3D printer our Darwin is also safe and sound just waiting for the day that we get to place it in the RepRap museum and say that we helped this grow to what it is today! Lastly just wanted to say a thank you to all of my new Google+ Followers, I get so many requests and notifications every day, thank you all for that! Hope you are all enjoying your 3D Printing endeavors and until next time...

The children are here!!

Hi there everyone!! Sorry that I haven't been posting as much lately, school has really been busy. Anyways I just wanted to announce that the children are here!! Yes the world's largest home brew Ultimaker has had baby's! Inside the designs that my dad and I made we were able to fit 4 other Ultimakers inside of the scrap, yes it was tight but we had them cut out with the big one. So now there are 4 smaller Ultimaker's out there in the world now. One of which belongs to the RepRap Kid himself, the second belongs to our friend Christian  from Make-It-Labs and then we have 2 other sets of parts, one for my dad and the last for the AS220 lab. So far only two have been assembled and functioned, the first being the RepRap kid's which I like to call the Bat Bot (Look at the Picture's I think you will notice why) and the second being Christians. These 2 printers have been constantly running and are working great! This is seriously my new favorite toy, we are still working on calibrating it as we go but so far it is not looking too bad! Be sure to check out the Pics below for a sample of what I have printed so far, I will be sure to put pics of Christian's printer tomorrow but in the meantime I hope you all enjoy looking at the awesome machine that is the Bat Bot!!

Mission: Maker Faire NYC 2012 = SUCCESS!!

Howdy there everyone!! It's been too long sorry about not posting lately life for the RepRap Kid has been quite busy! We went to Maker Faire NYC all weekend and it was fantastic, we had so many interviews from places like NBC, Wired Magazine, and Hack a Day! From the makers that started the 3D printing revolution in the US with the first Darwin RepRap, and the 3rd in the world presented their latest and greatest creation the Gigimaker. We were deciding on a name for our machine on the way to NYC and came up with the idea of calling it this. Oh and speaking of which be sure to look at the photos attached of the machine inside our CRV, that was a tight fit! But it was worth bringing it down to NYC, we met a lot of our friends from our 3D Printing group including our good friend Joseph Prussa the inventor of the Prussa 3D Printer. We also met up with our friends from Ultimaker who we were so glad to see, they thought our printer was a work art and they were proud to have their robot logo on the front panel. On top of seeing all of these incredible people we saw yet another, Ben Heck! This man is the inventor of the Xbox 360 Laptop and he has his own TV show, this man is awesome he thought our project was incredible! Overall tho this event was fantastic and I just wanna give a shout out to the two guys who that made this event possible! First off I would like to thank James Barkley yet again for taking the time to come and help us present our machine at both maker faires, and lastly I owe the biggest thanks to my dad who essentially made this dream of mine a reality THANKS DAD YOU ROCK!  Hope you like the pictures and be sure to check us out on all of the websites and places I mentioned we are out there now!
